Man Overboard Drill
  by
SK2/SS Gary Teleky, USS Finback
In 92 aboard the USS Finback I was just a lonely SN/SS. We were on the surface leaving Norfolk. After the maneuvering watch was secured I went to the bridge to stand the Look Out watch. While in the bridge the CO and XO came up to the bridge while we conducted Man Overboard drills.

The CO told the XO to take over as OOD. After this process was complete the CO threw the "Oscar" overboard turned to the XO and said that is me that just went overboard. At this point the XO quickly called below decks stating "Captain Overboard, Helm All Ahead Full, Cheif of the Watch get that man's shit out of my stateroom." The CO was not at all happy and never asked the XO to take OOD during a Man Overboard drill again.
