Crossing the Equator . . . .
Pollywog to Shellback
The USS Blenny left Guam, Marianas Islands to Manus, Admiralty Islands on a training exercise. Upon crossing the equator on 4 December 1945 at Latitude 00-00, Longitude 146-20, the royal court of King Neptune was invoked to pass sentence on all lowly pollywogs. A pollywog is one who has not crossed the equator.
