I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

IRWIN .. .. .. Kenneth Hammond Irwin, known affectionately as Ken, passed away at the age of 68 on August 21, 2024, in Kingwood, Texas. Born on September 25, 1955, Ken dedicated four years of his life to the United States Navy, serving from 1974 to 1978 aboard a nuclear submarine, an experience that marked a significant chapter in his life.
Ken was a loving and devoted husband, brother, and son, remembered for his kindness and dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife, Jan Seabaugh; his mother, Matilda Boots Galli; and his sister, Trudy Atkins.
Beyond his military service, Ken was passionate about golfing and cruising, hobbies that brought him great joy and relaxation. His love for these activities was well-known among his friends and family, who often joined him on the green or while cruising the open waters.
A service to honor Ken's life and legacy will be held at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. The arrangements are being handled by Birdsong Cremations in Kingwood, TX.
Ken's life was marked by his service, both to his country and to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
RICE .. .. .. Richard J. Rice, “Rick”, age 77, of East Longmeadow, MA passed away on August 29, 2024, peacefully in his home. He was born in Springfield on February 10,1947, to the late George and Aura Rice. Rick attended Springfield schools, graduating from Springfield Technical High School in 1964. Following his education, Rick served his country for four years in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Sea Robin as Petty Officer third class in submarine navigation. Rick was a patriot who gave back to his community of veterans as a lifetime member of the Elks organization where he served as trustee and won the prestigious Veteran of the Year award in 2005. Rick had a love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter most of his life. He was the proud owner of Rice’s Auto Repair, a small auto repair shop in East Longmeadow, where he celebrated an admirable 50 years in business until he closed the doors earlier this summer. Rick fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for over a year. He will be sorely missed by all and remembered and appreciated for his strength, his work ethic and his commitment to his family. Rick leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Donna L. Rice (Bouchard), and their children, Dan Rice, and Angela Delude. Rick also leaves behind two grandchildren, Cody Hanson and Jacob Rice, and his sister Susan Manley and brother-in-law David Manley, sister-in-law Sharon Lamoureux (Bouchard) and brother-in-law Jeffrey Lamoureux, and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
