I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.


HAMILTON .. .. .. Michael Anthony Fesmire Hamilton was born on September 26th, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida to Reba and Walter Fesmire. Upon their subsequent divorce Reba re-married and Michael was adopted by his mother’s husband, William Hamilton. The family eventually moved to the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. After his graduation from O. Perry Walker High School in 1973, Mike enlisted in the Navy and served on submarines as Quartermaster Second Class. Upon completing his tour of duty, he held several jobs before re-enlisting in the Navy where he eventually reached the rank of Chief Petty Office. Mike received the Navy Achievement Medal for exemplary service on the USS Hammerhead for his outstanding ability monitoring the ship’s navigation system. When he finished his military service, he attended Southeastern LA University where he received a bachelor’s degree in business in 1988.
On August 1st, 1987, Mike married Kelly Major of Slidell, LA in Long Beach, MS and became stepfather to Kelly’s son Joshua M. Kuhn. After his college graduation, they moved to Marietta, GA where Mike worked in the insurance industry. Eight years later the family relocated to Aurora, CO. After their son’s tragic death, Mike and Kelly briefly lived in Hayden, AL before finally retuning to Louisiana and New Orleans. Mike continued to work in the insurance industry until Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home. Until his retirement, he worked in pest control management.
Mike is survived by his wife Kelly, mother Reba Marcellis, sisters Wendy Letendre, Carol Selman, Lynn Ftacek, Elizabeth Hamilton, brothers Richard Hamilton, David Hamilton, Joshua Hamilton and various nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his birth father Walter Fesmire, stepmother Melba Fesmire, adoptive father William Hamilton, stepbrother Tom Hamilton, and his stepson Josh Kuhn.
Mike enjoyed going to the beach, travelling, reading, working on puzzles, and the New Orleans Saints. He loved animals and especially loved his dog Henry who misses him very much.
Immediately following the funeral service, a reception will be held at Kelly Hamilton’s home, 4648 Lafaye St. New Orleans, LA. Burial will take place at the Southeastern LA Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA at a yet undetermined date.

GABRYSIAK .. .. .. James Frank Gabrysiak Galway - James Frank Gabrysiak ("Gab"), of Hermance Road, passed away at home on Monday, March 10, 2025 following a brief illness. He was 84.Born on August 21, 1940 in Wausau, WI, son of the late Silas and Delia (Jagler) Gabrysiak. He is the husband of Shie Ching (Wu) Gabrysiak, whom he married in 1982.
James began his career in 1958 working for the Hoffer Glass Company. Shortly thereafter, he volunteered for submarine duty in the US Navy where he served for seven years until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked in the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA and spent time in Hawaii and Connecticut before he and Shie relocated to Galway. He worked as a nuclear engineer for General Dynamics at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in West Milton. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Braves fan but enjoyed watching all sports. He loved spontaneous rides often to Vermont, enjoyed western books and movies and the company of his beloved pet dogs over the years. He was a talented gardener, earning an award when living in Vacaville, California. He would come home from work and tend to his garden until sunset - a ritual that continued until he retired.
In addition to his loving wife Shie, he is survived by his son, Stephen Miller and his grandson Zachary of South Carolina, and a daughter, Stacey (Christopher) Denisulk of Malta and their three children Mikaela, Jared and Gavin. Also survived by his siblings Gene Gabrysiak, Sue Walter and Michael Gabrysiak.

RANDALL .. .. .. Jimmy D. Randall, age 85 was born in Addison, Alabama, on March 12, 1940, to the late Harry Randall and Ellen Barkley Randall.
Jimmy was a U.S. veteran who served on the U.S.S. Sea Leopard submarine for 4 years. He retired after 39 years from the former Georgia Kraft paper mill, where he worked as a welder, blacksmith, and millwright.
Surviving are the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Gayle Ledford Randall; daughters Lisa Owings and April Plumley; grandchildren Haley Brooke Johnson, Dakota Plumley, Jesse Plumley, and Sage Owings. Also surviving is a sister, Terry Hook.
Jimmy loved being outdoors, whether hunting, camping, or trout fishing. He also enjoyed working in his woodshop, creating special, detailed pieces.
Jimmy’s life will be honored at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 with a visitation from 12:00PM till the Funeral Service hour at 2:00PM, Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jarrod Roberts will be officiating.
