Jim Hamilton, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, entered heaven on November 22, 2009 after his earthly battle with lung cancer. Born on June 24, 1933 in Pond Creek, Oklahoma, Jim moved to Texas in 1955. He was a veteran of the US Navy and proudly served in the Korean War on the USS Pickerel (SS-524), a conventional submarine. After the war, Jim returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Judy. Jim graduated from the University of Houston and South Texas College of Law and practiced law for 30 years. Jim's favorite pastime was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was known for making the best dang ribs and smoked chicken in the world, was one heck of a cribbage player and was an avid sports fan. He could often be found on Saturdays and Sundays cooking up delicious food and cheering on his favorite teams. Full of stories, humor and love, Jim never met a stranger and was deeply loved by all.He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Judy Hamilton. Together they raised two children and their families: son Jimmy Hamilton and wife, Lisa, daughter Kim Curcio and husband, Ken. Jim was best known & loved as "Papa" to his 5 grandchildren: Jacob, Jill and John Hamilton and Joshua and Sean Curcio. Jim is also survived by his brother, Finley and wife, Susan Hamilton and his sister Donna Rankin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Opal, brother, Ray and sister, Henrietta as well as his son's late wife, Janice Hamilton.Final rites are pending and a celebration of Jim's life will take place in December; time and place to be announced at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's memory be made to either the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or any charity of your choice.

John (Skip) Hagen, 77, departed this life November 12, 2009 after a long illness. Mr. Hagen was born in New York, August 26, 1932 to Ida Neidzwieka and Max Hagen. Mr Hagen served in the Navy and retired with 28 years of service as a CPO/E7. He attended the USN Submarine School in New London, Connecticut in 1952. Mr. Hagen lived in South Florida for a number of years before moving to Lake City where he was employed by Summers Chevrolet as a mechanic and later joining the Forest Service as a mechanic until his retirement. Mr. Hagen was co-founder and served on the Board of Directors for Trinity Praise and Worship Center. He loved being an exhorter for Jesus Christ, singing and playing his lap-steel guitar. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Ruth Hagen, one son Mark Hagen Mexico, Maine; one daughter, Laura Hagen, Mexico, Maine; two sisters, Irene Campana Berlin, Connecticut; Marsha Casey, Wethersfield, Connecticut and nine step-children also survive. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Praise & Worship Center, on Hwy 90 East, 1/4 mile past college entrance, Lake City. Joyce Hunter, Murray Reeves and Wendell Norris will be officiating the service. Final arrangements by ICS CREMATION & FUNERAL HOME. 386-755-3436

SHREVE, Don H., 83, of Louisville passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Norton Suburban Hospital. Born in Beaverdam, VA, May 29, 1926, he was a Submarine veteran of World War II. Don was a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church, Abraham Lodge #8, Aero Club of Louisville, the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the Kentuckiana Golf Course Superintendent Association. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Young Shreve; son, Preston R. Shreve; brother, Robert Shreve; two nephews; three nieces; one grandson; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. His memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Meadowview Presbyterian Church, 2944 Breckenridge Ln. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Masonic Home, 3701 Frankfort Avenue or his church.
