Robert E. "Bob" Allen, of Shallotte, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Autumn Care in Shallotte. Mr. Allen was born in Glen Cove, NY on October 28, 1920. He graduated from Friends Academy in 1938 and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1942. He joined the US Navy in 1943 and served as a commissioned officer on the submarine USS Chopper (SS-342). He worked an engineer for Ingersoll Rand Co. from 1945-1983. He and his late wife, Dr. Margaret Schilling, retired to Brunswick Co in 1983. In 2010 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his two sons, Ray Allen, and wife, Laurie, and Richard Allen, and wife, Loretta, and four granddaughters, Ruby, Rose, Rachel, and Amy. Memorial services will be held at Shallotte Presbyterian Church, where he was a member and served for nearly three decades, on Thursday, July 3rd at 3 pm by the Rev. John Causey. Family request in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to Shallotte Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 3256, Shallotte, NC 28459. Jack G. Arend, 77, US Navy Submariner, of Hastings Passed peacefully passed 6/30/14 with his family at his side. Preceded in death by parents Charles & Estella; brothers Charles, Warren & James; sisters Eileen Deschene & Mary Jane Raasch. Survived by wife Maureen; children Colleen Seeger, Timothy (Lisa Hahn), Cathleen (Ken) Hammond; grandchildren Sean Seeger, Michael (Amber) Seeger, Carynn Arend, Bryce Arend; great grandchildren Landen & Logan Seeger; and many other family and friends. Funeral Mass 10am Monday 7/7/14 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 2035 W. 15th St. Hastings, with visitation one hour prior to mass. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Kipton (Kip) J. Weaver, 67, of Midland, died at his residence on Sunday, June 30, 2014. The son of the late Roy R. and Ruth H. (Chapman) Weaver was born Oct. 16, 1946 in Akron, Ohio. Kip graduated from Ironton High School in Ironton, Ohio in 1964, and attended Delta College and Northwood University. Kip then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from 1968-74 on Submarine Duty. On Jan. 3, 1975 he married the former Mickey Secord in Midland, and she preceded him in death June 14, 2003. Kip worked for the Dow Chemical Co., retiring with thirty years of service in 2004 as an ODMS Coordinator/Cleanout Specialist/Supervisor. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed playing in several local pool leagues. Kip is survived by his daughter, Michelle Weaver of Midland; nephews and nieces, Chad and Lynn Yager, Kathy and John Prentice, Brandon Secord, Shae and Jessica Secord, Evan Secord; brother-in-law, Skip Garlick; sister-in-law Bobbie Mettert; mother-in-law Elouise Burke; great-niece Jamie Lynn Prentice; and great-nephew, Charlie Yarger. In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Garlick. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, with a sharing of memories to begin at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donors to consider a more lasting tribute and plant a tree in memory of Kip or donate in his memory to the Toni & Trish House, P.O.
