Richard "Dick" Dietz, ETCM(SS)
submitted by Rick Dietz, Son

My dad, Richard "Dick" Dietz ETCM (SS) finally succumbed from his battle with cancer on 10 May 00.

Dad served aboard USS Swordfish SSN 579 from 1963-67. He was on Admiral Rickover's staff in Naval Reactors from 1967-69, USS Queenfish, SSN 651from 1969-72, USS Mariano Vallejo, SSBN 658 in 1972-73 and retired as a plank owner on the USS L. Mendel Rivers, SSN 686.

Dad loved his submarines and his shipmates. I want to thank everyone who sent cards and flowers and managed to come to the funeral home from far away. I was fortunate to have the "Master Chief" for a role model.

Dad was buried at Arlington National Cemetary on 23 May 00.
